Which is ironic because Mussolini was anti-imperialism during WWI. Really Hitler just used Italy to keep the British tied up so they couldn't help Russia by opening another European front or completely blockade access to the Mediterranean. Italy was fairly ineffective in Africa and it drove Rommel nuts that he had to have Mussolini's approval for campaigns.
