I think the site has Whitey Morgan and the 78s up for album of the year so their release wasn't in the list I posted. Morgan is straight up honky tonk bar music but he still does a bunch of covers. He covered a Townes Van Zandt song, Waiting 'round to Die, and it is amazing.

Saving Country Music is a great page to follow for news about independent country artists. Plus they have some hilarious reviews for the crap that the Nashville big labels push. This is a great list and I'll definitely be checking out some of the artists I'm not familiar with that are on this list.
