They sure are optimists. In truth, 100% of species on earth will inevitably face extinction.

Given our anthropocentrism, the assumption 'extinct before we do' seems natural.

Does a species go extinct when it evolves into another one?

Darwin's paradox? I guess we can be more precise and say 100% of species will either 1) evolve to a new species or 2) go extinct.
