I wonder what genius determined that old tires would somehow act like a natural coral reef. Damn. That does seem pretty stupid now, 50 years into the future.

On the outside it seems to solve the desire to establish a new reef/habitat and the recycling issue. The idea was probably the brainchild of some save the earth type. Think 1970's version of today's global warming panickers. But I think it's the sort of thing you've got to test in the field to see if it works. There wasn't any data against it at the time.

Of course not. The attitudes that started earth day are common to those constantly screaming global warming. The m8ndset is recognizable.
