Grab a bottle of apple juice and make sure it has nothing but apples and Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C, nothing else. If your lucky you can find in in a 1 gallon glass jug but I recommend nottingham ale yeast, for one gallon you only need 1 spoon full. Empty 1 cup of juice then add the yeast to the juice and put a bit of tin foil on the top and let it sit for no less than 15 days and you will have a cider that's about 6% ABV and if you want even more add 1 cup of sugar when starting the brew.

Enjoy

Funny story - I had a roommate once that thought we could make hard apple cider if we just bought a few gallons of cider and took the lids off and left them in the closet for 2 months. I was like 18 and had no idea.

Let's just say that did not turn out as "he had heard".
