I used to have a cat that loved to play with the mice.
When he was done playing, he'd usually eat the new 'friend', though.

Lucky for him there were lots of mice on the island. So he made, then ate a new friend almost daily. He didn't eat catfood, and didn't use a litterbox (went outside).
Easiest cat to take care of ever.

I had to leave him behind when I moved off the island though. You can't take an outdoor cat out of paradise, and expect it to be happy in a small apartment. So I left him with the neighbour.

The cats I have now sound similar to yours. The male has never met a living thing that he doesn't love. The female hates all living things except humans. She seems to think she is human, and is not willing to reduce herself to being friends with a cat, or any other animal.

Exactly this. I used to take my male to work with me when he was younger. 7 dogs, 2 cats and ~20 people in the office, he loved it. The female loves all people, gets along great with my male, but holy shit I've had to wrap her in a coat and throw her in the closet when my friend brought his puppy over one time. Tried cat sitting for a friend a few times, had a few other dogs over, and she was still similar. Growling, hissing, spitting, attacking my other cat even when separated from the other animal because she was so on edge.

Your outdoor kitty sounds like he was in heaven out there.
