I know. Personal beacons are almost as much and don't have nearly half the features. I'm actually wondering if I could make one of those satellite phones work as a full time phone.

Since you can't use it as a regular phone, it is indeed a bit costly unless you're relying on it a lot.

The price looks very reasonable, first I've heard about that one.
I really enjoy hiking alone, a phone like that would be a nice piece of mind.
