  • cut 1 large yellow or sweet onion and dice 3 cloves of garlic

  • cook onion and garlic on medium heat with a little olive oil for 10 min

  • add 1lb ground beef.

  • add generous amount of Himalayan salt and some black pepper

  • cook and break up until the beef is no longer pink anywhere you can see

  • add 1 can diced tomatoes with all liquids

  • chop 1 head cabbage (I de-core then cut in quarters then thinly slice the quarters)

  • stir in a few handfuls of cabbage at a time and mix well

  • cover pot and cook 15 or so min stirring occasionally

  • scoop out with slotted spoon and drain all excess liquid

Himalayan salt

I'm not comfortable propping up the economy of the Punjab region of modern Pakistan. Are there alternatives?

any salt really works, i just prefer coarser ground salt and like the taste a bit better. a coarse sea salt would be a fine substitute.

also it doesn't really feel like propping up the pakistan economy when i bought a jar of the rock salt for $3 about 5 years ago and still have half of it left. the lithium batteries in your phones and laptops are most likely sourced from mines in pakistan, so a small salt purchase is just a drop in the bucket.
