Yeah I've been kicking myself for the last decade for not accepting 10 bitcoins for a bag of weed back in 2011.

My student came into my after hours in a fevered vision of a machine that can pull money out of the internet.

Oh was he talking about a mining rig?

It is usually quite costly during operations due to the power draw needed to redline GPU's all day long.

But the more current realistic scourge is the insanity that is the GPU market in 2021.

That's a big oof knowing the current situation, but you had no way of knowing. If only you could make decisions with knowledge of the future, right?

Yeah, And I would have sold it off long ago.

Life would certainly be a lot simpler if that was the casr.

What would have been worse is if you accepted the 10 bitcoins and then lost access to your wallet. It's estimated that 20% of all bitcoins have been lost or are unrecoverable...I know people who lost wallets of coins that were worth very little when they had them, but skyrocketed in value later. That really gets to you.

Oh yeah, that's very likely too as the Hard drive I had at the time ended up getting corrupted about 5 years ago and became liberally redistributed across a gravel pit with the help of some tannerite.

But yeah I've always got a kick out of the articles that have come out over the years of people searching landfills in vain for their old HDDs that contain their wallet.
