The BIS thinks that the decentralised nature of cryptocurrencies is a weakness rather than a strength.

A bank thinks that a decentralised currency is bad, to the surprise of nobody.

I hope Bitcoin does die a death so some of the better coins can finally be freed up and untied from BTC value, but I don't see it happening. I love how this article glosses over the fact that the value is still insanely high in comparison to a few years ago.

I think doge is promising for actual transactions to buy goods, rather than being the kind of trading commodity that bitcoin has turned into.

Total speculation because I actively avoid the crypto world incoming. Sounds like someone with influence is trying to incite an artificial panic to induce a selling frenzy and then rebuy back in later. It's not going to skyrocket any time soon so the most potential short term money making strategy is to crater it and let it build back out of the slump.
