Some are narrow, some are high, some are shifted to the outside, etc. This puts in a little bit of mind games with the batter and the pitcher. How many times do you see a player get flustered at a call and then over compensate for it in the next pitch? Robot umps also remove a skill set from the catcher. Framing a pitch wouldn't mean anything if there's a robot ump.
Also, Maddon got ejected from that game as well for pointing out to the ump how bad it was that Zobrist was saying something.
