Judging by some of the posts you see online--which of course can be misleading and non-representative for a multitude of reasons--some really seem to relish in describing how virtuous they are at observing even the most inane and pointless lockdown restrictions while criticising "Karens" who dare take the dog for a walk at the park.
People unfortunately love to be the wardens of their own prisons. It's like a religious zeal transferred to secular, political causes.

I assume a lot of fear has been whipped up over the virus, and being nobody wants to be seen to advocate killing people. Whether the majority of those citizens have lived full lives and are at death's door anyway seems to be irrelevant.
