I stopped using Voat, and there isn't enough content here at the moment for it to be a 24/7 stream of different topics, so I've been frequenting different sites a lot more over the past couple of months.

Aside from the usual youtube, twitch etc. I like to browse a few small boards on 8chan like /cyber/, which unfortunately has a tiny amount of traffic. Lainchan.org is kind of similar and has a little bit more traffic, but is still very small.

I have inadvertently stopped watching videos over the past couple of weeks due to my taternet being quite slow through the day. This has a bizarre effect where I have actually started to read and learn valuable things on the internet, a bad habit which I need to get out of.

When I was researching decentralised sites, I stumbled across a number of file sharing/social media sort of hybrids that I had never heard of before too.

On a side note, maybe one of you can solve this. I wasn't able to. Use page down to fast scroll down to line 6660, move along to the right and find the "21". Replace the 2 with a 0. That's your starting point.

This journey into the interwebs has made me realise I haven't actually searched for new stuff for quite a long time. Maybe we should have a sub for this kind of thing. Not a /s/InternetIsBeautiful, maybe just a /s/Internet.

You are into Three Kingdoms? What book should I read to have some general overview? Is there some reputable, but popular history?

You can find free sources online in the right places. For specific individuals, their Wikipedia pages are actually rather accurate, for the most part, and pick out the fiction that was included in the novel by Luo Guanzhi from the actual history.

The best source available is the Sanguo zhi (SGZ), a primary source written by Chen Shou, a scholar of the period. In the SGZ, he compiles biographies of every notable figure of the age in several books and 3 volumes. The ZhiZong TongJian (ZZTG)

The novel Romance of Three Kingdoms, is a decent starting point, although you have to realize that some fiction is included. But it does lay out most of the major people, events, and chronology of the period.

I'll link more for you another time.
