If there's a sub/board you miss from reddit/voat/chans, or some type of content you'd like to see. Maybe there are enough like-minded users to get it started here.
I would like to see a more diverse range of topics. That doesn't mean very niche topics, or small things nobody is interested in, I just don't want the site to be one thing and one thing only.
If you filtered all the posts to Voat in one day, but took out FPH, niggers, US news and politics, pizzagate and discussion about Reddit, what would you be left with? It's like half of the posts on there, or more. I didn't like FPH or niggers, but the US election completely killed it for me. Even if I was from the US, the constant discussion about it would have been enough to completely kill my interest in it.
I think one way to go about that is by selecting the userbase. Almost everyone using the site at the moment is someone that received an invite on Voat. I sent to all Deathpool players, and everyone else is someone who was either disillusioned with Voat due to the echo chamber/lack of good content, or someone who was posting good content.
We have been looking closely at certain things happening on Reddit, and in the coming weeks we will probably be trying to poach some communities from there who have a problem either with mods or admins. /r/PCGaming for example, had a problem with admins doing shit on their sub.
I enjoy seeing people post stuff about their interests too.
Sure, we can all post a variety of stuff, see what hits, then post more of the popular content. But knowing what people want to see here helps avoid:
posting a bunch of content that nobody else can really engage with. I'm lazy to write text content nobody is interested in.
starting a sub that's controversial with the existing userbase. Eg something like fat people hate or the red pill or coontown etc.
