Well she wears knit gloves sometimes, so its certainly not a germ thing at this point, though it may have been the case while she was actually undergoing chemo.
Have you considered that she might just have cold hands? Pretty normal for old people with a history of cardiovascular problems to have poor blood flow to the extremities.

I remember a commercial where women hid there hands due to them telling their age. Maybe it's that, or maybe she's a robot with bad ribs.
