Rural Pennsylvania. We would go grab feed corn out of the fields and throw it at peoples' windows (not the whole cob).
As we got older we'd grab Dad's fishing line reel, a tack and a nut. Connect the line to the top of a window sill with the tack. Tie the nut about a foot down the line, then reel the line back across the street. Sit back and pull on the line over and over. The nut would tap on the window. When they come out to look you pull the line taught. They'd never see it. Drove 'em crazy.
