I broke my iphone 6 and bought a 200 dollar samsung galaxy j3 prime. I tried to connect it to my brand new lenovo running windows 10 to no avail. I tried to connect it to my mac running el capitan... no luck. I plugged it into my work comp running windows 7 professional: immediately recognized the device, installed the driver, and I could upload songs....

what the fuck is wrong with new software? can't upload music for the life of me

My results regarding a very basic query on getting win 10 to recognize Android

Fix – Windows 10 doesn't recognize Android phone On your Android device open Settings and go to Storage. Tap the more icon in the top right corner and choose USB computer connection. From the list of options select Media device (MTP). Connect your Android device to your computer, and it should be recognized.

My results for a very basic query on why mac won't recognize your android

Instead, to get your Android device connected to your Mac, turn the Android's debugging mode on before connecting via USB. Press the "Menu" button on your Android device and tap "Settings." Connect your Android device to your Mac with the USB cable.

Best of luck. Both seem like settings related solutions on the common denominator. The phone.
