When it comes to books, I am a huge fan of Isaac Asimov. My favorite TV series is Stargate: SG 1 and if I have to choose a movie, I would go with Bladerunner.
I enjoyed The Orville and I can't wait for the new season.
Movies would be Silent Running and A Boy and His Dog, both basically one person shows about struggling with survival and moral decisions.
Television would be Twilight Zone, with it's unique sometimes terrifying, sometimes humorous take on life and living in the future. The best one in my opinion is The Invaders, about a back country woman fighting off aliens in her cabin.
As for books, Kurt Vonnegut's work would be my favorites. His strange humorous twists on serious matter is fun to read and thought provoking.
If you're serious it's probably the foundation. If you aren't it's the Hitchhicker or Red Dwarf.
