I'd prefer not to spend more than, say, $300 or $400. NVidia only. Was never a fan of other cards. Mostly looking for what the budget performance series line is right now so I can research from there.
Yeah, I'm just looking for something that would last a couple of years while I spec out my next system. Last time I spec-ed out a full build, it took me 4 months just to get the parts list and then the system lasted me 8 years before the system age mostly wasn't worth it. It still runs and I only use it as a server now (SQL, TFS, and the like). I mean, yeah, I could drop cash on it and make it a current powerhouse again (that's why I took so long researching everything) but at this point, I just want to spec out a top of the line, get WIndows 7 Pro before I can't anymore and then wait another 7+ years while Microsoft straightens itself out. But until then, I just need something for my dev box. So it looks like the genera consensus is going to be around 1070, give or take.
Thanks.
I wouldn't go lower than a 1070 at this point. That's mostly because 4k monitors and 144hz monitors are coming on strong, and worth it for many. A 1060 will be okay on most games at 1080p, just not on the highest settings.
