I suspect that you ease it up during the day, but don't turn it down and off before you get out. Over time you get conditioned to the sound and, combined with road noise, tend to turn it up over time to get the same sound feeling. Just fishing for a logical explanation, I know I do this.

I never claimed to be a social butterfly, I'll tell ya that much.

I've got a car gremlin...its a she.

Now every time I get in the car, before I start the ignition, I crank that dial as far to the left as possible.

Even then, I brace myself for the impending auditory explosion. Sometimes I think she does it on purpose.

Heard of problems like this, shortly before the battery dies. No idea how it restores while not in use.
