I've come to a conclusion today that I have a void in my life, I have no outlet for creativity.
It's not that I'm not creative, more that I'm not traditionally creative. I don't write, draw, paint, sculpt, or anything like that. The closest I ever got was mapping for Quake. My creativity is based in problem solving. I can't figure out how to apply that to a hobby of some sort.
What do you guys do?
Yea, I remember some that used softer plastic and others that used a slightly different stud pattern. Just now looked it up and their patent expired in 1978.
It isnt to do with quality of plastic or design....it is to do with quality control. Of the hundreds and I mean actual 100s of sets I have bought new only 2 were missing pieces.....
You think about that level of dedication with a product and not only that, but the fact that a brick made in 1968 when they did the first run of bricks we use today will fit with one made right now.
The tolerances that Lego uses is the best in the world believe it or not. Higher than that of aerospace engineering standards. Crazy when you think about it how after all this time they haven't slacked in that area.
Now the quality of plastic today to something like say the early 90s is just shit. That is when they switched to the formulation they use now. Of course they have tweeked it over time, but that is when it really switched.
It isn't as resilient as it once was I think. It warps so much easier now.
Yeah I did, but Lego has a stance upon violence and not promoting it sometimes. RoboCop is for sure one of those themes they wouldn't touch.
That scene is from RoboCop 3. Always a fan of ED-209 myself. At the present moment I likely have around 1000 sets and 150lb of just bulk Lego pieces.
That is actual Lego too. Not the generic shit because it isn't the same.....a few come close, but there is zero substitute for the actual Lego brand as it stands.
It isn't that I am a purist either, it is that often times the others are less than consistent with quality as Lego is.
