I was never really interested in it my whole life, but recently have been pursuaded to watch Naruto.

And I love it. It was corny at first, a bit dramatic and contained some questionable elements. But now that I'm a few episodes in I'm hooked. The storyline is an amazing display of character creation and growth.

What do you Phuks think?

Naruto is the absolute best in long term series, it only gets better and better even years/ a decade in the story get richer and even more layered. If you are watching the whole thing, mind the fillers as they tend to add nothing to the story and get annoying very fast.

Cowboy bebop is excellent, so is the movie Akira

Fluff is the word that was used to describe what you call filler here. I understand there is a lot of filler shit that needs to happen, kind of character building in its own way. Gotta take a pause from all the badass shit they do right?

aye fluff = filler.

Thing is the complete naruto storyline including Naruto- shippudden is about 920 episodes..... let that sink in...

The story and development of the main chars (about a dozen if not more) and support characters (about 70-100) is pretty extensive and full in the original story alone. No real need to have "extra episodes" especially since most don't tie into the main story that well, only distract from the storyline and feature much weaker personalities/adventures then the main ones. Especially if you are 400 or something episodes in and focused on the main story/personalities fillers start to get real annoying.

I understood they used fillers mainly to slow down the cartoon to not surpass the comics as the writer is still writing the story (even now there is a new naruto series/generation being written). But it just got to much at a certain point and the quality dropped severely in the filler arcs.

These helped me a lot:

Oh this is awesome thanks! I really am becoming attached to the main storyline here. I'll have to check these sites out. I had no idea how extensive it was, and how in depth the meaning of everything goes to. Little details that show up in the first few episodes later get recalled in 100 episodes, and it has a meaningful impact on the world. I am excited for what the show has to offer. Gives me good binge watching material.
