Said like a true voater, though the question is broader than what you seem to be implying. For example, I suspect some consider furthering human knowledge to be a higher calling, though the benefits to others are very questionable. Meditating in solitude in order to gain a better understanding of ones own mind, or working to preserve another species on the brink of extinction are others.

Not much difference between your motivations and that of an animal are there? Maybe intelligence has an optimum level, enough to confer a biological advantage, but not so much that we start distracting ourselves with philosophy.

Edit: You should find yourself a country with good social security benefits and pump out double-digit children.
