Depends on which school you're referring to. I suspect different truths were taught at different schools at different times.

But I do believe, more or less, what I was taught in my school. The Nazis executed undesirables. Jews, communists, homosexuals, and others.
So did the Russians, Chinese, and occasionally the west. The Nazis were systematic and focused about it though, and left a lot of evidence behind. Combine that with losing the war and the right to author the history books, and they come out looking very bad.
Which is fine, because they were.

Numbers vary, but once you've got that many 0's it doesn't matter if it is 1 million or 100 million.
They may not have been the only bad guys, but they certainly were bad guys.

I am Dutch and Yes I believe the holocaust happened like it's been taught to me. The facts and figures of Dutch jews being deported and gassed are all registered and documented. NL had it's administration in order and all citizens where registered with their beliefsystem noted pre-WW2. (Dutch resistance actually bombed our own local archives in multiple occasions to prevent this information being used by Germans) Hence it is pretty certain to determine the ammount of Dutch gassed/killed in WW2.

I've read a lot and talked to many warsurvivors during my studies in the 90's - early 2000's. Both my grandfathers (not jewish) where deported to Germany in 1944 as forced labour and had plenty of stories themselves. If you have any doubts I'll suggest you come and visit one of the former camps.

But the point is the core facts are indisputable. Nazis systematically executed those who were deemed undesirables.

Innocent has a good point. The exact numbers don't quite matter after a point. It's an unimaginable figure when you actually picture that many human lives.

I also believe (not sure on the actual figures) that an equal or greater number of people were worked to death versus gassed.

I definitely have a problem of some of the exaggeration muddling actual facts. This creates the cracks in the narrative that voat loves to circle jerk over.

It was 72 years ago... The truth of the matter should be somewhere between your official version and voat's, but I really don't care enough to research it at all. Voat is doing the "Jews" (every single one of which is an evil subhuman lizard creature - heil voat) a huge favor by continually promoting the issue.

Sure, I believe it's mostly correct--history will never be 100%, especially when there are winners and losers. I'd say we're somewhere around 75%.

I'll say this though: we didn't fight Germany because of the holocaust. If that's the case, we would have fought Stalin's Russia from the late 20's into the mid 30's. Read/listen to Alexander Solzhenitsyn's book, "The Gulag Archipelago" for an understanding of how truly despicable that was. You can argue that we simply didn't know, but I feel that's wishful thinking.

We had to fight Germany because of their rapidly expanding imperialism or they literally would have conquered the Earth. The enemy of your enemy is your friend, so we found a friend in Russia.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: the holocaust was probably more of a detail that was blown up like it was because the winners write history and everybody loves a good David and Goliath story. That said, it's undeniable that shit went down and it was fucking biblical.
