I live in a region of America called Acadiana, named so because many of the original settlers here were the French Acadiens who were exiled from Canada by the British way back when. As such, Creole or Cajun French is a very common second language, especially among older residents. Lots of people will have Cajun French sprinkled into their vocabulary here and there too - "Come on now, cooyon."
Even for Louisiana, this region is kind of unique, as is the language used here. In that way, this area has it's own connection with Canada and France.
Talk a me tu big gars... J'i'd dire you're a peu naif in la tongue. i remember a documentary on the mixed jargon... it's so hard to find I've looked for it everywhere bbc covered it on that late sunday program they had...
edit: Acadian is a language... I wish I could find that
I learned English and French at a young age... weird being a Northern Canadian... come down here and there's basically every damn race and language available.
