I.e. does your first fold make a short fat shape or a long skinny shape?
I always start long skinny. For some reason starting short fat feels wrong and although towel size forces me to fold this way when proofing bread I always refold when done.

Short fat shape. I suppose I do it because it feels like I'm making the towel into a smaller shape faster than if I folded it lengthways.
