Pretty sure AIDS is transmitted through liquids and stuff (semen, saliva, blood), so as long as he doesn't have a cut or lick the dog themselves, it shouldn't be an issue.
I would be wary of anyone with AIDS (orientation doesn't matter here) if they weren't careful with their condition. If they were being safe about it, and aren't the kind to hide it from others, then it shouldn't be a big deal.
