I saw an article earlier saying that the water level is above the designed parameters. China has intentionally destroyed several levees and flooded much of their central china farmland and cities worse than they were already flooding to relieve pressure. Dams upstream have apparently ruptured already.

It's still good it's still good!

I remember reading an article while they were still building that dam. A german supplier of heavy construction equipment said that it would fail eventually, and that it will be the biggest flood since Noah.

You should make sure you've stocked up on food yet again. Somewhere between 25-50% of China's farm land and animal fields have already been destroyed from the floods. If this dam and the rest of the dams down stream burst, their entire food production will be decimated and basic food prices will likely skyrocket for quite a long time.

I'm remembering the last big dam project in China. There was a series of hydroelectric dams along the Yangtze, up in the hills. They had to leave them open during the rainy season due to them filling up with silt. Eventually one failed and all the dams below it went like a string of firecrackers.

My search-fu fails me. I don't remember if Mao was still alive at the time, but it was definitely pre-internet.
