Strangely enough no, I think that might have something to do with almost all poldered area being fresh water bodies originally. Basically NL is a big delta area and former swampland. Think bayou without the heat. So if you put a shovel into the ground you encounter mud, mud, mud and more mud! The soil is fertile like nothing else though!

If you go out and do some gardening, do you have to sift through broken shells of mollusks?
