So I work as a dispatcher at a food distribution company. As I was finishing up my shift (and my relief was ready to take over), we were missing a helper for one of our drivers, and could not find one available on such short notice. So one of the guys who helps run the department (he's not quite a manager, though he frequently acts in that capacity and makes judgment calls on things), asked me if I was willing to go with the driver if I had off Thursday night. I accepted. It's been a while since I had a two day weekend, even though I'm mostly just sore and tired tonight.
I have not seen them. How is it?

How long were you planning on working?
My normal shift is 3 PM to midnight, but as I was planning to leave, one of my bosses asked if I was willing to go with a driver as a helper today. I agreed, in exchange, he's covering my shift tonight.
