I was AFK almost a week, and wanted to catch up on my backlog (half is probably @Boukert, but whatever). Anyways, I refreshed today without ever clicking my mailbox, and suddenly half my notification number is gone. I did not visit my notification tab at all, and it was literally halved. I like to get back to people, even if it was after 5 or so days of inactivity...I don't check my messages until I know I have time to do enough so I don't forget.

Aka I loved the "Mark as read" for all comment/submission replies thing, that you removed.

Anyways, never clicked the mailbox, and suddenly I went from 29 notifications to 15. I can file a bug, but I'd rather bitch here first.

comment/submission replies get automarked as read when you open each of the comment/submission inboxs. The read time will show "just now"

I don't think that's it in my case. Literally went to sleep with @Boukert asking for a gif battle in response to a new thread I made. There was one new response on that thread...only other thread I visited that i could have had activity.

I slept with 28ish notifications and refreshed the front page and had 15 in the morning. I wasn't viewing anything else, I swear it...you guys have server logs maybe?

I how the inbox works which is why I avoid it like the plague. I loved the old "Mark as read" so I wouldn't forget or miss something, but that's gone so I just don't click it until I have time to go through it...such was 28 and is now 15.

Just reporting a bug. Want me to try and repro?

We don't log when notifications are marked as read
