Here you have a PHD and wildly successful businessman who figured out how to build a time machine, his very smart protege (and apparent chosen successor ), an equally brilliant tech chick working as support, a young but going places historian, a world class soldier/operative and his superior an agent of the world class department of homeland security.
Basically a dream team with a full support staff and apparently near endless resources.
The story goes, they can't figure out all they have to do is go back to like 6 hours before their first trip though time and kill 'the bad guy' at the bar. Which would save them all a bunch of grief, correct all breaches in history and make them all heros and do wonders for their careers.
