I think very literally when metaphoring and this was totally different, far more abstract. I wish I could write like that.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the first line, anyone want to take some guesses?

I think the second and third lines were more obvious, pointing out how language or perspective shapes knowledge and can lead to biases or know it all behaviour.

That's the beauty of his poem. You interpret it based on your own perception. I'm an atheist. So my own understanding of the first line is that faith is falling away as life goes on. The more you know, the less faith you have. Not only in religion. But everything. Your faith that the world will get better. Your faith that you will get out of debt. The further in life, the more cynical a perception of life.

That is what I get from the first line.
