The Osprey had a long history of problems, as I recall, before it ever went into production. And I think you're right, problems continue to haunt it. Being the first of it's kind probably didn't help.

That's one ugly looking plane.
At least it looks like it is more practical than the Osprey. Hopefully operating costs will be lower too. I recall news stories about the Osprey being a money pit. There were a fair amount of fatal accidents as well.
