I've noticed some great posts that basically end up having to use the text mode of posting because there's a great title but there's not enough room to provide context. Submitting in link mode doesn't provide enough space and text mode means that the user needs to do a little extra work to provide the link and we have to look for it.

What about a hybrid mode?

I envision this to be similar to the link mode where clicking on the title takes you to the link but it also has an expando for commentary. This allows for context for our great history posts but also to allow the submitter to highlight a summary or important quote from the post while reducing the amount of work for both user and poster to find the actual link.

Why not post a link and add a comment?

Why not leave it the way it is? Not being a jerk or anything but the idea is to save both the submitter and the viewer all that work.
