Since we don't sell userdata or use ads and trackers, having an explosion of traffic will only cost us more in hosting while we work out bugs and work on features. More people will come in time.

I don't think the word 'dead' is accurate.
There is a slow but steady stream of content and visits. But this is a small/tiny site. You can not compare it to sites like Eddit or Voat.
Phuks is just a village.
As far as growth goes, there is no active campaign to grow the site. There is no opposition to growth, but slow organic growth is what's desired. The site is still being built and designed, so is not ready for the big time. Also, some believe we'll end up with a stronger/better community by growing slow.
