Thought about buying up a bunch to resell, but at $50-60 a carton it's too risky for my budget.

It's crazy how much they've gone up in price over the last decade.

When I turned 16, my parents (active duty US army) got me a tobacco ration card for the PX, $2.50/carton.

Australian prices are ridiculous. $250 to $300 a carton. A single pack of 25's can be $50 depending on the brand.

I roll my own and it only takes about 4 minutes to roll a full pack. My costs are about 90 cents a pack ($9 a carton, but can be as high as $13 depending on the price of the tobacco). On average, I smoke around 8 cigs a day... which really isn't much. The only difference between what I roll and a pack of Marlboros is mine are smoother and doesn't make people with breathing problems flip out because it doesn't bother them nearly as much. When you roll your own, you're using pipe tobacco which is cleaner, has no additives (unless you buy flavors), and is a higher grade of tobacco. It doesn't smell quite as bad and doesn't mess up your sense of taste or smell as bad a store bough cigs do.

I can't do store bough cigs any more. They smell and taste too much like skunk.
