A lot of times when I read fantasy books and long series in particular, I find almost inevitably there will be long periods of boring filler in between the good bits where nothing really happens or its full of boring world building, plot building or pages of bullshit about fashion and hair styles(Wheel of Time series). This is not how the Witcher series works
The narrative often leaps ahead days, months or years to where the next event is happening and it's refreshing to know that if you are going to read a boring conversation around the campfire, that it will most likely have some significance later on. The author also gets points for mentioning that people often stop for a shit on the road and sometimes it's not pretty after eating dubious traveling fare.
The first two books in the series are a collection of short stories but I'd advise reading them first as they were the first two published and are often referenced back to later.
Recommended for anyone who has played the Witcher games or is into fantasy or adventure.
