Little bit of information on this book - James Duane, a professor at a university in Virginia (I forget which one) as well as a criminal defense attorney, writes in this new book about all the various tricks, traps, and methods American police will use to extract information from you for the purpose of having more to use at a potential trial against you. He also details how our fifth amendment (the right to remain silent) privileges have been greatly weakened in recent years by the Supreme Court, and how even this fundamental constitutional right can be used against you. Included is the proper advice you can use to avoid potentially incriminating yourself, even if you are innocent of any crime.

We often have the instinct to be honest, to be open and transparent, especially when talking with police. Professor Duane goes into great detail in this book, and shows how people we now know to be innocent have been convicted of crimes in many different states, with many different circumstances, in many different ways primarily on the basis of their voluntarily given testimony alone, where the state has no other significant evidence to offer against the alleged criminal. And it is for this reason, that you must almost never offer any information or help to the police; and he explains in extreme detail, in this short book, why it's so important, and exactly how to do it.

I fully recommend this book to literally every single American. Our criminal justice system is massively flawed in many ways, and we know for a fact that many innocent people have been convicted of crimes they could not possibly have committed, thanks to DNA evidence. In the past, we could protect ourselves by exercising our fifth amendment privilege and simply refuse to say anything; however, due to recent decisions by the supreme court and other federal circuit courts, that is no longer possible without placing yourself in grave jeopardy.
