All post replies and comment replies will be purged soon so a new process can be put in place.
it already happened. Basically all post replies and comment replies in your inbox from the last three days are going to be deleted. The comments themselves won't be, but the message in your inbox will be.
The new way in place now, shows the current comment when you view it. So if someone edits the comment, then an hour later you check your inbox, you see the current edited version.
