You would think that a professor would have already read up on Robert Malthus before trying to make these claims. Even I've read the Limits of Growth:

These projections are not those that can be realized within the lifetime of an individual. So far, the "human ingenuity" side has been reasonably correct but this is the kind of unknown area that's going to require thousands of years of data to confidently make any claims.

I think that "Overpopulation" painting by John Pitre had a greater effect on mass opinion that any work. The poster was absolutely everywhere.
