They can be disabled by disabling and force stopping play services, reverting the upgrade to another app (I forget which), clearing the data and cache for all involved, and then restarting. There are videos on how to do this.

In any case, the point of the matter is that they're piping adult content (some might say "degenerate") without regard for any user preference or target age groups.

I had been thinking about getting one but after seeing this nonsense, it's clear that someone got too uppity with their signalling in marketing. So, no, not now and not ever.

Sure, with some non-trivial work it can be done. But how about we just don't fucking push adult content on the home screens?

I understand the outrage, but Prime or Amazon, one of them, also pushes those sorts of ads without concern for who might be using their app. I saw Rupaul advertised on one of them.
