When a man is randomly killed it becomes a statistic. When a woman gets randomly killed it makes national headlines. This probably makes women more cautious.
I know I've put myself into situations where I could have been attacked by strangers. One time in Seattle I called a pimp the N word to his face while he was trying to sell me a girl. He was shockingly calm about it, but that could have ended poorly. Most women probably don't get themselves into confrontations like that
He probably thought twice about assaulting somebody with balls as big as yours.
Another thing to consider is the meat heads that get drunk and go to bars with the intention of getting in a fight. These guys aren't likely to kick some girls ass standing outside the bar, but they will totally go after that lone guy who looked at them funny earlier that night.
The author states women are warned more than men because they are viewed as responsible for violence against them. Not sure if I agree or not, maybe partially true? I always thought attacks on women were more common but also women are generally weaker than men and often not psychologically capable of doing violence.
Maybe I'm the exception though? I do know it's an issue telling women they were raped because they dressed 'provocatively'.
Also society views men as more expendable than women.
