There's too many damn streaming services these days, and all the good shows are spread out between them.

It used to be mostly just Netflix and Hulu, and you could watch almost anything between the two of them. Now each service has maybe one or two shows I like. I'm sick of having to set up new accounts and pay $15/mo just to kill maybe an hour watching one show.

Bought a 2tb external HHD. Gonna pirate whatever crap I feel like, watch it on shuffle, and HBO max and Peacock and Disney+ and all the other vultures can go cry about it.

Imagine only dedicating 2TB to your pirated content

This. I'm at 4 TB and wondering where all the space went.

I got 12tb in a NAS, haven't filled it up yet but I'm sure I will

If I fill up 12 TB, I might as well just quit computers. I can't imagine trying to organize and keep up to date on that much stuff.

These are just for the shows I can re-watch. I have plenty of space on my actual pc to download shit and then delete it immediately for all the other BS.

if you have a roku there are shit-tons of free/pirate content channels, both open and secret channels.

I have a roku TV and just like OP I have to stream my shows, could you provide a bit more information on watching shows. I have a few tv series I like but 123movies has a buffering issue lately.

Personally I think Pluto tv rules, Kanopy and Hoopla are free if you have a library card (if your library participates).

But as far as more deep channels go here is a good spot to browse:

Thanks, I had this TV for about two years and never knew about private channels. But then I rarely turn it on because of all the commercials on local tv, I tried watching the blacklist and I think 15 minutes of commercials.

When the first micro-streaming service came out by a cable network provider (HBO or some other one), I said that it was going to be a bunch of stupid exclusives and you'd be forced to buy five to ten of them just to keep legal and the price was going to be comparable to cable or at least not worth it. I used to keep a netflix account but they raised the price twice in the same year (before all their politics and controversy) and I said I was done. Not gonna play that game. I don't have a monthly fee for pirating. I don't have to worry about stupid commercials when I pirate. I don't have to worry about shows coming and going. I certainly don't have to worry about crap user interface. I don't get to watch a lot of shows so the money was mostly wasted for me anyway.

I've been much happier.

It is not a victimless crime think of all the high and fair wages for content creators.

I can't afford you OnlyFans though.

Well to be fair I should give u it for free since I'm thinking about you when I do my vids there.

I hope that does not offend u. Should I give you a percentage of my earnings?

Man, just go ahead and drop a little cash on a Synology NAS. It's a hard drive that you plug into your network that everything can see, including TVs. If you have a technical bone somewhere in you, you can set it up to do all kinds of things like be a web server, your own email server, wiki, blog, contact server, authentication server, and a whole bunch of other things.

I just spared an old computer, stuffed it with hard drives and plugged it into the network.

Installed some stuff to automatically torrent the series I follow whenever a new episode comes out

Synology has a built in "Download Station" which is a torrent client. Set up a proxy connection in the NAS to a VPN and everything that goes through your NAS is undecipherable to your ISP. Plus if you set the NAS as your computer/phone/whatever proxy, you get the benefits of a VPN connection without installing or setting up a VPN on your computer or phone. That means VPN on your TV.

Yeah, I'm using Transmission as a torrent client and I'm plugging in Sonarr to it to auto track and download the series I watch. It's pretty nice stuff

Automated piracy is a beautiful thing.

I started pirating content back in the 80s on DirecTV until black sunday, lately the sites I go to seems to be laggy like 123movies and for me who's been out of the pirating loop for a while I'm having trouble watching anything. As for 2tb external HHD, I remember way back when we all thought a 100 MB HDD was a lot.

Yup, pretty much this. And Amazon Prime stutters so badly that it's unwatchable. I'd be happy to pay for content but I'm not signing up for every single streaming service on the planet. Not to mention even if I did there's still a substantial amount of content that's not available to me.

I feel you.

I went to re-join Netfix last night. They want 18 a month to stream at 4k. Are you fucking kidding me? Sorry, I'll pay if it is reasonable, but that is not a fair price. Even an up charge to stream at 1080p, that should be the standard!
