About how much they like Disney plus and their ESPN sports subscription and what other garbage they subscribe to, while I'm illegally streaming hockey games and torrenting stuff from the free WiFi across the street.

while I'm illegally streaming hockey games

That's literally your only streaming option for your local hockey time. I want to pay the NHL for their streaming service to watch my team, but I can't because of cable network exclusivity on the geographical area. Fuck dude, you can't even do it legally. Just take my fucking money.

Same here for MLB. I wouldn't have any problem paying for their service if it wasn't for local blackouts.

And the price is fucking outrageous for the streaming subscription and you still get blackouts on certain local games. The entire system is dumb, and I prefer the easier and more consistent methods.

I pay $2 a month for F1 race streams. I rather do business with a sport that wants me as a patron.

It's a nice thought, but I chose hockey about 16 years ago. Nothing else is really interesting, except maybe soccer. I feel like it's too late to jump that bridge.

I started paying a for cable when it came out and not 6 months later they started showing ads after selling me on an ad free experience. That was around the year 2000. Once my internet was good enough to steal their shit, I started doing that and haven't really looked back.

Do yourself and your neighbor across the street a favor and use a vpn when you torrent. If he gets one of those letters from his isp he's going to have no choice but to secure his router.

It's a hotel. I don't think they care.

Cool. I do it from my own place, but if I'm torrenting anything less than 5 years old I use this freebie Japanese vpn thing. The show biz corporations hire people to get on and log all the ips of anyone on a torrent of their movies/shows/music, then they send a letter to the isp that corresponds to the ip, and then the isp has to send a letter to the customer with that ip address. I actually got one once with my previous provider when I downloaded a retarded show. I scabbed a whole season of "The Shannara Chronicles," watched half an episode, then deleted all of it because it sucked. Two weeks later, I was informed that if I(or my minor child) continued to do that, it might eventually lead to them cancelling my service. gasp
