Had a few repairs done to it over the years. Finally the battery performance dropped to needing to be charged every day even if it was on airplane mode the whole time and the touchscreen responsiveness (which had been failing) finally stopped being finagle-able to working all at the same time.

Cost of replacement battery and fixing the screen would just be too much.

A 6 year run for a phone.

Been ready for this thought and bought a GSM unlocked Moto Z Play "just in case" last year. (In case you're curious, it has a 50 hour battery life... yeah, that's why I chose it).

And yesterday was the day.

So after being on iPhones for 10 years and having the legacy iPhone unlimited data plan despite AT&T begging me and begging me to switch off of it, I hung up on that (also can't stand the idea of being required to buy a new Mac just to manage a phone - screw that). And the new ones don't have a headphone jack now...

Goodnight, sweet prince. I enjoyed your small size and quick gestures to get things done.

And Apple, if you're reading this, all of these things contributed to me finally telling you to "piss orf":

  1. No headphone jacks. I'm not going to charge my headphones.
  2. Phones the size of Montana. Seriously, who needs that???
  3. Throttling the hardware to the point that GPS would take 5 minutes to lock in even when plugged in (so not a battery issue)
  4. I am not buying one of your crappy computers just to manage my phone.

I know after these years you won't change your ways so you lost a loyal customer.

My previous phone was the BLU Energy XL. Not the best phone, but had a massive battery. I could 4 days on a charge with light use, and 2 and a half days of heavy use. After 2 years, I dropped it and the screen stopped working.

Iphone 4 still going strong here. The home button has stopped working a couple of years ago and the on screen assistive touch home button sometimes turns itself off in settings.

I miss the 4S more than any phone I've had. The right size and everything.

Yea mine is just a 4 which meant it was deprecated really early. That means a lot of apps wont work on iOS 7.1.2 Its a great mp3 machine though for songs. I'm going to have a lot of trouble replacing it and might just go for a cheap dumbphone with no net connection if I can find one. I get absolutely no value out of having a smartphone.

The only real value I get from smart phones is GPS, email, and an occasional internet search while I'm out and about. If it weren't for that, I'd 100% be on a dumb flipphone or something.
