also, when i try and type a sub to post into, there are no drop down options. annoying cause i don't know what subs there are. i was looking for a /s/phuksdev type sup.

We did that on purpose.
Try the view all subs button on the frontpage sidebar to see the full list of subs. /s/ideasforphuks might be the sub you're looking for.
I think most people open them in a new tab anyway, I know I do. It just makes it easier to left click rather than right click and open in new tab.
It was actually my idea :p sorry for your trouble.
I personally find it much easier if it's in a new tab, which is was I suggested it.

you can change this in your user settings (click the gear on the sidebar => open external links in a new window)
