My reply. For those who want to save a click:

You can see this with Voat. A majority of Voat users still use Reddit. People use Reddit for posting and interacting when it comes to PC topics (4 wheel drive subs, movie subs, book subs, etc.). They use Voat to post the things they can’t post on Reddit. This creates an imbalance where Voat becomes increasingly un-PC, while Reddit gets the neutral content (I know even the most hardened ideologue has a level of civility). The end result is this imbalance drives people away as people wear out when confronted by content like this over the long run.

I've been saying that for a long time. To be successful, Voat would need to become the site for everything - for stomach-curling free speech, but also for movies, cat pictures, RPGs, pipe-smoking, car tuning, and whatever else greases the wheels of normie-friendly sites. Instead, over the last few years we have seen content creators like Locke actively driven away - and we see it still happening with users crying about "forum-sliding" whenever a contribution in v/funny gets highly upvoted and dares to displace one of the bazillion j00s/negroes/muslims/libtards from the frontpage. Many seem rather to have the vision of an increasingly extreme and one-sided echo chamber where the choir preaches to itself, and don't care about the growth and outreach of the site, nor do they care about actual free speech (which includes speech you don't like).

I had high hopes for Voat in 2015, but I doubt that in 2018 we could still get there. Too much scorched earth, too many burned bridges, and a tarnished reputation that makes convincing those having broader interests or opinions against the site mainstream difficult.

This sounds like something some beta-cuck forum sliding redditor would say. Downgoated.

Your opinion doesn't count, you are a confirmed jewish JIDF shill. Getting out my 47 alts to bury your comment.

Now Voat has a more up to date canary than Phuks, unacceptable.

Putt and Atko probably thought that they could make a community that would be self sustaining by now, and by that I mean that they could do minor site maintenance with the occasional new feature. Instead they realized they have a very needy community (not all members but enough) that thrives on creating shitstorms and drama that constantly requires their attention, it's basically the internet equivalent of minding a dozen 2-4 years old.

It reminds of the parents of awful kids that just continue to be terrible because the parents are like "well I can't punish them because I said I would never do that... I'll just try to reason with them or say I'm disappointed and they'll have to start acting better!"

I hate to say it but they need a round of public bans on the top shit-stirrers just to show who's boss of the platform.

So he is whining that he can't make money from the site so he doesn't care about it any more. Every time something is posted by 'Putt' the less I believe it is really him.

After reading his statement he's admits he's unable to prioritize Voat into his schedule and does not have a clear vision of its direction anymore. He asks for help and hopefully that community will have some ideas. This is assuming he's being genuine and "He" is /u/Puttitout.

Edit: I see /u/GrumpyBastard feels the same way, almost verbatim.

I'm going to see if and when the "vote" feature is implemented to see how the site improves before I decide if I am going to drop off entirely.

But nothing on what caused the outage. Just a repeat of the same old, right? Also, poking at the "help" issue... which should never have been allowed to be an issue. If that man is ever hit by a bus, voat is gone.

He seems all over the place. People tend to get like that when they are doing something that goes against their grain.
