However, how does the fact that Valerie Jarrett is objectively a dead ringer for Ari in planet of the apes equate to racist?

Given how Bush was equated to so many different denigrative things, it isn't. But far left folks have short memories and refuse to be held to their own standards.

I'm indifferent. I wasn't watching.

I don't think Disney had much of a choice. They would have been hard pressed to sell commercial time. The left wing shit storm and boycotting would have been out full force.

Double standard or not that's the reality of it.

I agree.
It doesn't matter if Roseanne is genuinely a racist, or not. She is perceived as one.
Feelings are more important than facts.

If Rosanne wasn't racist, it wouldn't matter. The mob has called for blood. The mob doesn't care about evidence, context, or nuance.
It just wants blood. Disney must pay, or lose the audience. That show was over the moment Rosanne hit the 'send' button. Disneys options were to accept it and distance themselves from her, or go down with her.

Can I have a quick synopsis? I don't watch tv and am not on twitter but everyone is talking about this.

She called a black lady an ape, so they canceled her show.
