Reddit and other big sites have loved him, practically idolizing the man for his sense of confidence and his "unique" music. Of course that all changed when he began to talk against the narrative of Trump Hate. The left eats their own so fast!

Kanye doesn't give in to the slandering bandwagon, therefore he's mentally ill:

This type of thinking is so dangerous. Thousands of users are instantly changing their minds and attacking him. Even going so far as to talk about physical violence:

Regardless if you agree with Trump or not, this flagrant groupthink is extremely telling.

In my opinion, he has always been a self-absorbed attention-whore, with little to no talent outside of self-promotion.
And that's not changed.

The only thing Kanye can do really well is praise himself!

I had no idea who Kanye West is, but now he's in the news. So it's probably a PR stunt.

But now the same game is playing out on the conservative side. A year ago he was a crazy-ass negro who produced crappy music and dissed a cute little white pop star. Another celebrity whose views shouldn't be listened to just because he's a celebrity (whose views I didn't like).

Now he's a based black man that's so cool for standing up for "our" guy. Let's all start listening to his music and talking about how deep it is.

This is pure identity-politics theater. It's aggravating how duplicitious people are.

Yes, exactly as I pointed it out in my comment to /u/Enfield, I made the same unconscious move as I was pointing at others for making. Its just amazing how fast people can turn. Confirmation Bias right?

I remember not long before the election Kanye was hospitalized for some kind of nervous breakdown. He blamed his team for putting him there because of inner differences between them (basically a coup). I felt bad for the dude.

When the footage of him and Trump in the Trump Plaza lobby aired I was impressed. I saw a sweet side of Kanye that made me root for him. I saw something in that young man.

With this latest kerfuffle I'm convinced Kanye is a good dude. The media are acting according to script: Character assassination to maintain power.

This is pretty much how I feel about the situation.

I have to be prudent and recognize the same fault in myself though. I never liked Kanye because of his attitude and character, and even moreso because reddit did like him so much. Now that he's being attacked I've flipped my opinion of him, so therefore I am guilty of doing the same thing.

I never advocated punching him though.

Anons were saying he had a forced lobotomy a while back, any truth to that?

Eh, people have said Kanye was crazy for a while, and I don't think many of his fans are dropping him over this. But yeah, groupthink.
